WASHINGTON (AP) - Three former pro football players make their way to Capitol Hill today as a congressional hearing focuses on brain injuries suffered in the game.

The hearing was prompted by a study that the National Football league commissioned. It found that retired pro football players may have a higher than normal rate of Alzheimer's disease or other memory problems.

Since then researchers announced that a football player who only played in college suffered from a degenerative brain disease previously discovered only in former NFL players.

Today's hearing will look at the lasting impact of head injuries, how to limit them and how to compensate players and their families.
