Drinking coffee and tea could provide more than just a daily pick-me up.
According to new analysis, people who drink coffee, decaffeinated coffee and tea seem to have a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Researchers combined data from 31 studies and found that for each cup of coffee drank per day, there was a seven percent reduction in the risk of developing the disease.
Those who drank three to four cups a day had approximately 25 percent lower risk than people who drank two cups or less.
Individuals who drank more than three to four cups of decaf had about a one-third lower risk, and people who drank more than three to four cups of tea per day had a one-fifth lower risk than those who did not.
Currently, doctors believe a compound found in these drinks may protect against type 2 diabetes.
