Cops Conference in Geneva

Geneva, AL- Weren't too many empty seats at the Maple Ave. Baptist Church in Geneva Friday.
The event, organized by area district attorneys Kirke Adams and Doug Valeska was originally planned for only a few departments.
As interest grew so did the attendance sheet, and the event was moved from the Geneva courthouse to the maple avenue baptist church to accommodate the extra officers.
Topics ranged from witness stand preparations to how to make sure your facts are solid against a dui defendant.
Budgets are so tight and there is not a lot of money going around to send these guys off so we decided to put one of these on locally and before we knew it it turned into 200 officers from 6 or 7 surrounding counties "
Both District Attorneys say the funds that provided for the for todays conference came from pre-trial diversion funds from criminal cases, and the recently passed solicitors fee.
