FL unemployment highest in 30+ years
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida's unemployment rate continued its steady upward climb in October at 11.2 percent.
State officials announced Friday that the October jobless figure was a tenth of a percentage point higher than September's 11.1 percent adjusted rate.
The number of unemployed Floridians topped 1 million in September and it remained slightly over that mark in October.
The Florida rate exceeded the national figure by a full percentage point in October.
It's also the highest it's been since June 1975 when the rate also was 11.2 percent.
