Houston County Courthouse will soon get Electrical Upgrade
Rhiana Huckins
The Houston County Commission approved a bid for an electrical upgrade to the courthouse.
Maintenance personnel had the project estimated to cost $75,000 dollars.
County officials were happy to report the actual price will be about $14,000 dollars less.
A new secondary transformer will be put inside the courthouse with a new transfer switch.
"Over the years, the courthouse has used more and more power, probably from copiers and printers because they have heaters in them. Around 10:00 during the day our power load gets excessive, and then it drops down around 2:00 so that transformer gets excessively hot," explained Sean Curtis, who is the Houston County Maintenance upervisor.
Thorn Electric Company, a local business, will be doing the work.
