I wonder if this teen was involved in the typical movies and video games most children, teens, and young adults are involved in where random, gruesome killings win points and are awarded. Why is it ok to commit such actions on screen but not off? Childhood development studies show that young children have little to no sense of separation between fantasy that is taught to them and reality. And then the excuses of medications causing one to commit such actions- If so, then one should be able to do whatsoever he chooses and simply "blame it on the drugs". Harken to the age of little personal responsibility and less to no consequences. Crimes that would have recieved death years ago can now be committed with a relative slap on the wrist (i.e. child molestation). Don't judge the person, but judge the actions. If i get a speeding ticket, i deserve it and I pay it. If i were to kill someone, I also would deserve just punishment.
