CENTREVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Bibb County 16-year-old has pleaded
guilty to the murder of his mother and has been sentenced to 20
years in prison.
Rebecca Yeager was shot to death in her Woodstock home on Oct. 2, 2007. At the time of her death, her son, Christopher Yeager,
told police that a burglar broke in and killed her.
Bibb County District Attorney Michael Jackson says investigators later came to believe that the son killed his mother with a .22-caliber rifle. Neither Jackson nor the teenager's attorney, Richard Bite, were sure about the motive for the shooting. Bite says the defense had three doctors examine the teenager but found no mental problems that would have spared him from prosecution.
