A wiregrass woman is back home after spending weeks in the hospital recovering from injuries she suffered in a car accident last month.

Neighbors, friends, family, and co-workers gave Ann Margaret Layton a very warm welcome home Saturday morning in Ashford.

In fact, businesses all along Broadway Street in downtown Ashford had balloons and signs to mark the occasion.

Layton was involved in a traffic crash on October 24th in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Her mother, Denease Layton was killed in the wreck.

Ann-Margaret suffered numerous broken bones and facial lacerations.

Her family says through it all, she's stayed tough.

“It was a serious situation and Ann Margaret gave it all. But the healing has been awesome and the medical care has been outstanding so we've been blessed in that respect,” said her father Julian Layton.

“I don't know if she's come to terms with her loss yet or not. But I have noticed since last Saturday that her spirits are up, I don't see the tears running down her eyes any more. So I think she's been able to deal with it,” added Layton.

As for Ann Margaret, she's happy to be home, and eager to hop on her bike and get back to work at the local beauty salon.

“Tell him where you work,” said Ann Margaret’s former co-worker.
“All-In-One,” said Layton.
“Tell him when you going back to work.”
“As soon as I get this thing (medical apparatus helping heal her broken hips and pelvis) off me. Then I can ride my bicycle,”

Layton is expected to make a full recovery from her injuries.
