Welcome Wiregrass weather enthusiasts to the birth of the first WTVY 4 Warn Weather Blog! I have created this blog to discuss current weather events more in detail, talk about interesting weather in other spots on the globe, and to speak my mind about what interests me about weather on any given day!

My goal is to blog at least three times a week, but bear with me if that doesn't happen right away...I'm new to this! However, I am an avid follower of other weather bloggers, so it's only fitting that I start my own! So here we go..

For being the third week in March, our local weather has been fairly quiet....and that's fine by me! After a week of unseasonably warm weather we have settled comfortably into what by climatological standards shows to be "average" for this time of year. Morning lows in the low 50's and daytime highs with plenty of sunshine in the mid 70's is hard to complain about!

We are not expecting our forecast to change much for the next 5-7 days, with the exception of a dry cold front that will move through Friday and drop our morning lows to the upper 40's and highs into the upper sixties for the weekend. We got some great rainfall this past weekend with most areas receiving between two and five inches, minus the threat of severe storms

Our next chance for significant weather at this point looks to be late next week, possibly Friday bringing us some thunderstorms, with a slight chance for severe weather. However, that is still a ways out and will be discussed more in depth closer to it's arrival.

Spring Has Sprung! Tomorrow marks the first day of Spring, also known as the Vernal Equinox. Spring will officially be here at 6:44 a.m. CST. The Vernal Equinox occurs when the sun is directly above the earth's equator. The length of day and night are roughly equal.

On a weather related note, is anyone else being plagued by seasonal allergies? About a week ago the familiar film of yellow pollen coated my car and triggered my sinuses to go out of control. I don't have to deal so much with sneezing or itchy eyes, but the post-nasal drip is maddening! And why is it that prescriptions at Wal-Mart are offered for $4, but a 30 pill container of "prescrition strength" over the counter Zyrtec is $20? 

Well I think that should do it for today, if something else of major interest comes to mind I will update later.
