Wow, I never thought I'd see a coach throw a sports information director under the bus at a preseason presser, but I should have known ANYTHING'S possible at The Days. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier claims he unintentionally left Tim Tebow off his 1st team All-SEC ballot. Ha! He told us he glanced over the list that his PR director filled out and said to turn it in, not noticing the Heisman winner's name was omitted. Was that the truth? Do you believe him? I don't know what to believe. I do believe he had someone fill it out for him. Where it went from there is anybody's guess...unless you take him at his word. If you look a list with the best football players in the SEC on it, shouldn't Tebow's name (there or not) jump right out at you?! I dunno... Gene Chizik's turn at the mic was pretty vanilla. That's the way he is. No biggie. LESS talk is proving to be a virtue around the league... Les Miles stopped short of using the "bounce-back" term I goaded him with when referring to LSU's upcoming season outlook. I know they won eight games last year. He knew I knew they won eight games last year. But I wanted to see if he'd say it. Heck, if some other teams had won eight games last year, we'd have no new coaches in the SEC this fall! Anyways, fun, busy trip to Hoover for the Days. I hope you enjoyed watching our reports, and that you take full advantage of the special web page we created just for the event. The first football Saturday is 6 weeks from today! |
