12:13 a.m.-watching Boise St. and Oregon finish up. The Pacific time zone battles the Sandman yet again.

Any college sports fan will empathize with me...sometimes the best games of the day don't kick-off/tip-off until after 9pm, and then we are slaves to our tv's, exchanging sleep for the final quarter/half of a game between two teams we will never, ever see in person or have reason to cheer for. Why do we do it? Because it's there. And because it's the season. And because it MATTERS!

College football is here. All summer long we wait for this night, and I feel it necessary to give it its due. South Carolina v. North Carolina St. was a snoozer (Stephen Garcia is garbage, by the way)--this late game is at least between two top 20 teams and both teams refused to kick extra points after TDs. Plus the blue field is intoxicating, of course.

The Broncos just won 19-8 and the Boise fans were cheering "Overrated" about the Ducks...okay, Oregon is ranked lower than BSU...whatever.

**Holy Crap, an Oregon player just punched a Boise player in the face to end the game!!!! Remember Lagarrette Blount's name! He will be in the news for assault!! Geez!** Be proud Phil Knight, be proud. (BTW, Oregon mustered 14 yards offense in the first half--Pac 10 Wooo Hooo!!)

How great a coach is Chris Peterson? All Boise does is contend for a conference title every year. All he does is turn down the big jobs every year. I hope they run the table. That'll make things interesting in the BCS.

Troy got hammered by Bowling Green earlier tonight. No adjustments at halftime equals a 24-point swing in the final two quarters. Curious to see how they rebound in practice this week preparing for Florida.

I'm also curious to see if Alabama's Brandon Deaderick plays on Saturday after being shot on Tuesday! Apparently the bullet went through his forearm and hip, but now he's good to go? Only in Alabama!

Be sure to tune in to News4 Saturday at 6/10. I'll be reporting live from the Georgia Dome. We'll also have highlights of Auburn's game against LaTech as the Chizik era officially begins. Until then...
