Lately a lot of people have asked me, "When is it going to cool off?". I reply "Define 'Cool Off'...." Some people are anxious for those chilly nights...hunting weather, while most of us would settle for some lower humidity and low 80's. Well here is my answer for those people: This week will be our first taste of fall weather. Some good showers moved through with an initial cold front Saturday evening, and slowly pushed south on Sunday, but it was still cloudy and mild this morning. Drier air has begun to filter in, as we noticed clearing skies this afternoon. Monday will be slightly breezy and pleasant early, but still close to 90 degrees by mid afternoon. Then, a secondary cold front will move through as a dry cold front, meaning no showers associated. This will be the reinforcing kick of dry air that will really let some ideal radiational cooling to take place during the evenings. Expect our temperatures to drop off much quicker after sunset, and I still believe some parts of the viewing area will get some morning lows in the mid to upper 50's by Tuesday and especially Wednesday morning. Afternoon highs by Tuesday will be only in the low, to maybe mid 80's. But the most noticeable difference, aside from our morning lows, will be lower humidity through most of the work week. Shower chances will return slightly by mid weekend, but we are in store for a very pleasant week. I myself am ready for fall, but not completely ready to say goodbye to the warmth. Now is the time I'll be buying my cinnamon broom to spice up the smell of the house, a big pumpkin for the doorstep...and maybe even do something I'm not so good at...baking! Halloween is still a month out, but it is one of my favorite holidays, and I look forward to watching horror movies on AMC all October long! |
