North Korea says it will free detained US missionary

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea has announced it will free an American missionary detained for illegally crossing its border on Christmas Day.
The North's Central News Agency says the government "decided to
leniently forgive and release" Robert Park, taking what it calls his admission and sincere repentance of his wrong doings into consideration. The news agency says Park now understands that he
had a false impression of North Korea caused by propaganda made by
the West.
The news agency also quotes Park as saying he's now convinced
"there's complete religious freedom for all people everywhere" in North Korea.
Park slipped across a frozen river into the North from China carrying letters calling on North Korean leader Kim Jong Il to shut the country's camps for political prisoners and step down from power.
