ATLANTA (AP) - The statewide "Click It Or Ticket" campaign begins Monday.
State officials are promising around-the-clock enforcement during the campaign, which is aimed at reducing fatalities and injuries during the Thanksgiving travel period.
Concentrated patrols will check for seat belt violators on interstates by day, and there will be road checks on state and county roads at night.
Bob Dallas is director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety. He says that the campaign isn't about writing tickets, but saving lives.
Dallas says 136 lives could have been saved in 2008 if all drivers and passengers had been wearing seat belts during serious crashes.
