The Coffee County Commission has approved Sheriff Dave Sutton to get a helicopter.

Since taking office one year-ago, Sheriff Sutton says both Dale and Geneva counties have supplied him aircraft assistance on 11-separate occasions.

The sheriff says a military surplus helicopter will not cost local taxpayers anything because of fundraising events and volunteers.

But the sheriff also says it may take several months before a surplus military helicopter becomes available.
