OZARK, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have arrested and charged three men with conspiring to kill an attorney and a Dale County judge.
According to Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson, the murder plot is related to divorce proceedings.
Olson said the suspects, Fred Daniels, Garrett Daniels and Andrew Earl Garner, are being held without bond.
Investigators allege the three men solicited a hitman who turned out to be an undercover police officer.
The sheriff said the targets of the plot included Ozark attorney Buddy Williams and Dale County Circuit Judge Ken Quattlebaum. He said both were involved in divorce cases involving the Daniels.
Hartford Police Chief Nick Finer said his department initiated an investigation into the conspiracy six months ago and turned it over to the sheriff's office.
The FBI assisted in the investigation.
