The Houston County Commission is trying to avoid the spread of bingo inside the county.

They say that the few bingo halls currently operating in the county are enough.

With electronic bingo machines becoming more popular, they're afraid more local establishments will try to obtain permits.

Meanwhile, the county commission is remaining tight-lipped about Monday’s meeting.

An announcement is expected regarding a new project.

Houston Co. Commission Chairman Mark Culver said, "These projects have confidentiality for a reason and we hope that the public is respectful of that and will not look for any further speculation on what [they] might be."

Despite the lack of details, Culver has made it clear there will be no Type 3 gambling brought in to Houston County.

This new project the county commission is speaking of is expected to have a large impact in the area.
