The stars of the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo showed some skin in preparation for the 48th annual event.

Reptiles will be racing each other at the Channell Lee Stadium on April 4th and 5th. And, you can sink your teeth into some rattlesnake meat if you dare. Organizers say it's an event for the entire family.

Director of Planning Don Childre, the said, “We try to do an educational shows directed toward the kids so they know what to do if they see a snake, to leave them alone, not to try to handle them like we do; we emphasize that.”

Rattlers will be on display for the public to see.

The Rattlesnake Rodeo is a great way to get up close and personal with the reptiles. You can even have your own photo opportunity.

Mickey Crew, member of the Opp City Council said, “If you want your picture taken with snakes, we can have arrangements made, you can hold the snake. You know, somebody will help you; some people like to have them draped over them. It makes a good souvenir picture.”

And, after you've had your picture taken with one of the stars, you can enjoy helicopter rides, archery tournaments, karaoke and more. Plus, daily live entertainment and music just might want to make you get up and shake your tail.

General admission is $5 dollars. Children 6 and under are admitted free. Gates will open Friday, April 4th at 6PM and at 8:30AM on Saturday.
