Hurricane season begins June 1, and Walton County residents are encouraged to attend a free hurricane seminar.
Weather experts predict the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season to be quite active and that the united states has a better than average chance this year of being hit with at least one major hurricane before the season ends in late November.
Members of the emergency response team based out of DeFuniak Springs will answer questions about hurricane preparedness kits, evacuation procedures, how to prepare your home while you may be away, and help with storm tips before hurricane season arrives.
The free seminar will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 6 pm. The seminar will be held at the Agricultural Center, in DeFuniak Springs next to the Walton County Fairgrounds.
The seminar will be hosted by the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a program of the Walton County Emergency Response Division.
