Enterprise police are trying to trace the gun used in a double murder case.

James Helms and Scott Heib were shot to death in their home on Coffee County Road 622 in the Battens Community last October.

Ballistics tests confirm a 44 Taurus titanium revolver was used to kill both men.

The weapon was found beside the road near the crime scene. The serial numbers on the murder weapon were filed off.

However, investigators say they've still managed to trace the gun to the original owner - a man in Dothan. But the man says he sold the weapon at a gun show in Dothan in 1999.

Investigators say he's currently trying to find his records on the sale of the gun.

Governor Bob Riley has authorized a $10,000 reward to help solve the crime and put the killer behind bars.

Anyone with information about the case should call the Enterprise Police Department at 347-2222.
