The Houston County commission honored four deputies who died or were killed in the line of duty.

\Deputy Luscious Alva North, Deputy Grady Granger, Lt. Fred McClain and investigator Garvis Snellgrove were all honored during the History of the Houston County Sheriffs Department.

As recently as last year the sheriffs’ office had believed only two deputies had died in the line of duty.

Sheriff Andy Hughes said, “Survivors of these deputies would you stand please....these deputies killed in the line of duty will not be forgotten but they've left a legacy for these deputies that serve today to further serve the citizens of Houston County and we tank you.”

Surviving family members received portraits of their relatives personally delivered by Sheriff Andy Hughes.
