The Dothan City School Board unanimously approved a school re-zoning plan initially proposed by Superintendent Dr. Sam Nichols.
It will be more geographically consistent than the current zoning plan which was part of a federal desegregation order.
The new set-up creates two cluster zones to be split north and south by Main Street.
The plan also creates two new magnet schools at Beverley Middle and Heard Elementary Schools which will double the system's magnet school enrollment.
Changes will go into effect for the 2009-2010 school year.
For more information on the changes visit Dothan City Schools' website at www.dothan.k12.al.us.
