A routine traffic stop for speeding turns into a drug trafficking arrest.
Just after 10:30 Tuesday morning Houston County Sheriff Deputy Robert Reichert stopped a vehicle traveling south on Highway 431, about a mile from Landmark Park.
The driver, 26 year-old Brandon Fragger of Lynn Haven, Florida could not produce a license, which is allegedly suspended. He was driving a rental car, under someone else’s name.
Deputy Reichert says Fragger was extremely nervous, and later brought in the K-9 Unit named “Tarzan.”
Tarzan, a Dutch Shepard that started with the Sheriff’s Office last September, discovered about two pounds of powder cocaine. It has a street value of $32,000.
Also recovered was $347 in U.S. currency. Captain Gonzalez says there is a reason Sheriff’s Deputies patrol the highways near Dothan City limits
“We are the Circle City. We are a hub for East, West, North and South for anybody who is going to be mobile. And if there is going to be activity likes trafficking of narcotics, it's a prime area to do so, so we keep our watch for those," Captain Gonzalez says.
Gonzalez says the investigation in this case will continue to try to find the link of where these drugs came from and their final destination.
Since joining the force Tarzan the K-9 has helped in 28 felony drug cases.
Brandon Fragger is being held in Houston County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
