Panama City Murder Suspect Arrest in Texas Save Email Print

A | A | A A suspect in the robbery and murder of a Panama City motel clerk has been arrested in Texas. 30-year-old David Eric Merkel was taken into custody by U.S Marshals in Houston. He is accused in the beating death of 58-year-old Edward Bennett in October of last year. Investigators say DNA links Merkel to the crime. Police say they spotted use of his ATM card in the northern Houston area in December.
