A Dothan student says he's running for president; president that is at the American Legion Boys Nation, which will be held in Arlington, Virginia.

Cody Walker, a student at Providence Christian High School, is one of 98 student representatives chosen to attend the event.

He is one of two Alabama students selected based on leadership skills, academic record and activities.

The week long program introduces students to the structure and function of government.

Mock elections are held and Cody is one of a few that is running for president.

“I'm very excited about going to Washington,” Cody said. “I get to see the monuments, I get to see how our actual government works, and we'll possibly meet the president while I’m up there. So, I'm very excited about that.”

Boys Nation will be held July 18th through the 26th.
