Just after midnight, Dothan Police responded to a shooting on the 200 block of East Powell Street in the downtown Dixie area.

40-year-old Marzine McMillian of Coffee County was shot in his side, underneath his arm, with a shotgun by a small pellet known as bird shot.

He transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center, the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

The motive is unclear, but police say the shooting could have stemmed from an argument.

The incident is under investigation.
