Ashford residents will be seeing some extra cash in their pockets thanks to the fire department.
Because of the hard work and efforts from Ashford firefighters, insurance rates for homeowners in the city will go down.
Upgraded equipment, planning and aggressive training have helped the department gain a two point improvement on their insurance rating.
“Lots of pride, you know they spent a lot of hours that nobody knows about, helping the community doing the different projects that have to be done,” said Chief Jimmy Posey with Ashford Fire Dept.
Officials say the city will save approximately $200,000.
