The 9th case of animal rabies this year in Houston County has been confirmed by the health department.
A raccoon found August 25th on County Road 203 tested positive for rabies.
Investigators say a homeowner heard his dogs fighting with something. The next morning, he found a raccoon in his yard.
There is no known human contact with the rabid animal.
The health status of the dogs, which were not up to date on their rabies vaccinations, is still to be determined.
In 2007, a total of ten rabid animals were found in Houston County.
