Deputies from the Houston County Sheriff's office served warrants on 23 individuals in Houston County charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
This came over the course of a 4 month investigation where deputies seized 3 pounds of cocaine and over 40 pounds of marijuana.
Also in the investigation deputies served two search warrants at local clothing stores seizing thousands of dollars worth of counterfeit merchandise.
News 4 spoke with the owner of one of those stores “Elite Styles” in downtown Dothan, who said on line stores should bear most of the blame.
“Basically they'll tell you that they'll send you the money and they'll s
end you the shoes or whatever" said owner James Severson “But i had no idea that they were counterfeit shoes or i didn't know you had to go through Nike to sell Nike shoes.”
Up to this point the Sheriffs office has made 396 drug arrests this year, Sheriff Hughes says charges could go to grand jury on the counterfeit goods.
