Lifesouth is recruiting new members to join the list of bone marrow donors.
Saturday, Lifesouth's local chapter set up shop at Southeast Alabama Medical Center to increase its bone marrow donor numbers.
The procedure to sign up for the registry is simple.
Lifesouth nurses draw a small vial of blood.
Then you wait until someone is in need of bone marrow and if you are a match they call you to come in and make the donation.
During the bone marrow transplant, the patient is put to sleep.
It only takes a few hours of recovery before you're back in action
If you are interested in becoming a bone marrow donor, you can drop by Lifesouth on Ross Clark Circle, or call them for more information at 792-9977.
