In less than two years, several yet to be announced airlines are expected to fly from the new Panama City-Bay County International Airport.
The economic impact is expected to be tremendous for Panama City Beach and many nearby, smaller communities, such as the Ebro community.
With a population of around 300, the town has been home to parimutuel wagering for years.
However, a wave of commercial and residential construction is underway; the Washington County town is less than 10 miles from the airport.
For Mayor Sheri Taylor, she loves to see the growth, but she wants to maintain that atmosphere of neighbor helping neighbor.
"Our goal is to keep good, clean growth to Ebro. We want to see it grow, but really we want to maintain that small town atmosphere of neighbor helping neighbor. Really that's what I have to say about it."
In anticipation of the new airport, real estate prices have skyrocketed across northern Bay and southern Washington counties.
