The training was conducted by the Dothan-Houston County EMA.

The exercise culminates five weeks of classroom studies. Participants learn the basics of emergency response and rescue.

Officials say in the event of a large-scale disaster, emergency responders may not be able to get to all citizens that need help.

In Tuesday night's demonstration, a tornado ravaged a Dothan business leaving CERT members to deal with several scenarios.

"We are putting everything they have learned in the past 5 weeks from fire to hazardous materials and they are putting it all together in a scenario," CERT Trainer Densie Williams says. "In the event that we actually had tornados come through."
