There are a number of informative booths and exhibits at the 50+ Expo giving out information and telling visitors what is available to them in our area.
Sometimes you don't have to look very far to find a wealth of information and services.
You may wonder how to get transportation to the doctor or if financial assistance is available for the things you need.
Wouldn't it be nice if all this information were at your fingertips? It can be.
"Seniors may call multiple groups to find the information that they need so having everything together in one directory that they can take a look at and read at their leisure is a great benefit to them,” says Martha Anderson, the Director of Home and Community Services for SARCOA.
The Senior Advocates for the Elderly, a volunteer group, have compiled a Senior Resource Directory with almost everything you need to know about aging.
"It's got all sorts of resources that would be of interest to seniors and it also has little articles in it that tells them about different programs,” says Anderson.
For 2009 they plan to combine the senior resource directory with a long term care directory.
"The Long-term Care Directory has a listing of all of our long-term care facilities for the seven county area," says Anderson.
Both of these resources were available for free at the 50+ Expo but you can also stop by SARCOA to pick one up.
You can also download a copy of the directory from SARCOA’s website listed below.
