MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A convicted sex offender has been charged again after a federal grand jury in Montgomery indicted him
for transporting an underaged female across state lines with the intent to engage in illegal sex.
U.S. Attorney Leura Canary said in a statement Wednesday, 47-year-old William Joe Mitchell of Jacksonville remains in the custody of U.S. Marshals.
The one-count indictment alleges Mitchell took a 15-year-old girl from Bartow, Florida, to Andalusia on Oct. 1, 2007.
Mitchell was previously convicted in Florida in 2002 of a felony sex offense against a child.
