MOVIE WATCHING RECORD
NEW YORK (AP) - Pass the popcorn. There's a new movie-watching
record. Suresh Joachim of Toronto, and Claudia Wavra, of Petersburg, Germany, managed to sit through 57 films in 123 hours. The movie marathon took place in a plexi-glass house in New York's Times Square. The Guinness people say it will take a couple of weeks to verify the achievement as a world record. Eight people started watching the movies as part of the Netflix Popcorn Bowl. More than five days later, only two were still standing, or make that sitting.

JUROR-INTOXICATION
JACKSON, Mo. (AP) - Drinking is no excuse for skipping jury duty. Authorities in Missouri charge Curtis Lemons was supposed to report for jury duty in a drunk-driving case. Instead, officials say he was having a few himself. A judge ordered officers to bring Lemons to the courthouse after he told a bailiff he was too busy. Authorities say he smelled of booze. Lemons told the judge he'd been drinking rum that morning. Lemons was fined 250 bucks for contempt of court.

BEST BAGGER
NEW YORK (AP) - It's in the bag for Millie Lugo. She's been crowned New York City's Best Bagger. Lugo competed against 17 grocery clerks, bagging things like chips, bottles of spaghetti sauce and canned soup. Contestants were scored on speed, weight distribution and even style. Lugo works as a manager at a D'Agostino supermarket, where she started out as a cashier and bagger. Lugo wins 500 dollars in the D'Agostino-sponsored event. Now, she goes on to compete for the title of America's Best Bagger.

LOTTERY LUCK
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Some guys have all the luck. And it looks like Dan Polla is one of them. The Idaho convenience store owner collected $100,000 yesterday in a state lottery scratch-off game. Back in July, he won 50-grand. But that's not all. In 2004, he won jackpots of $1,500 and $15,000. Polla says he couldn't believe it when he learned about his latest lottery win. He says he's going to use the hundred grand to pay some bills and take his son to Disneyland.

AMERICAN AIRLINES-PORN
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - American Airlines is pulling the plug on high-flying porn. American says it will install online filters to block porno sites on its new in-flight Internet service. At first the airline said such filtering wasn't needed. Now, American says it's responding to complaints from flight attendants and passengers. The airline launched Internet service in August on some of its Boeing 767 jets as a six-month experiment.

DODGERTOWN LA
LOS ANGELES (AP) - "Dodgertown" could become official in L.A. The City Council has unanimously approved a resolution to rename the area around Dodger stadium as Dodgertown. The move comes as the Dodgers head into the National League Championship Series against Philadelphia tomorrow. City Councilman Ed Reyes says the new name is about celebrating and memorializing a great tradition. But it would take federal legislation to go on the books. Only Congress can redraw a ZIP code. The council hopes an L.A.-area member of Congress will introduce a Dodgertown bill.
