Staff at the Quality Inn near the intersection of 84 West and the Ross Clark Circle stood outside the business Thursday.

They claim they aren't receiving payment for their work.

Employees say they have been given bad checks and now it's gotten to the point that no bank will either cash, or deposit their checks.

A representative for the group, who isn’t allowed to speak with the media, said this problem started back in March.

“They refuse to cash their checks; so it's just a headache you know, you come out here and do your job; you want to get paid,” said former employee Gladys Taylor. “You want to get paid for the work that you do.”

News 4 tried to reach the Chain C.E.O and company ownership. Neither returned our calls for comment.

In all the states I've lived in, intentionally writing a check without funds to cover it is a felony. Why isn't this business being prosecuted?

It is bad enough that Economy Hotel chains encourage their General Managers to pay as little as possible, but not to pay at ALL?? Then they cry when the look at their year end figures and wonder, "Why can't we keep good people?" or "Why don't our guests come back?" These holding corporations cry to General Managers that the Property doesn't "Sell" like it should. Well, who wants to spend the night in a room you are only allowed 25 minutes to clean & YES that includes your bed & bath tub!!! I know what I am talking about here I worked in Hotels & Hospitality for several years. I got in trouble when my staff ran over 30 min per room while cleaning- NO MATTER HOW FILTHY THE ROOM STARTED OUT!!! Now it seems in this case not ONLY do they not want to pay more than 1/2 hour in payroll time to clean a room --These people don't want to pay for the Payroll Time AT ALL!!! I wonder if the hotel guests can sleep there without paying for it !!!! How would they like THAT?!?!?

I am so glad that I no longer work there anymore. I feel so bad for everyone that's still there. I just hope that everyone there finds a better job to where they can actually get paid...
