STRIPPER BUSINESSMAN ARRESTED
MELVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - There's nothing like a man -- out of uniform. Long Island, New York, authorities report busting a man who runs a male stripper business, for forging police badges. Suffolk County deputies say suspect Peter Mistretta told them he uses the phony badges for strippers' costumes. A sheriff's department spokesman says the fake badges and IDs look just like the real thing. Mistretta has pleaded innocent to forgery and drug charges. His lawyer says the sheriff's investigation is "riddled with errors."
HALLOWEEN-DOGS
UNDATED (AP) - Be careful not to frighten Fido this Halloween. Animal health experts caution your four-legged friends could be freaked out by costumes or masks. James Cook, president of the American Veterinary Medical Association, says masks can be confusing for dogs. He adds animals will try to protect the home and may feel threatened. Cook adds Halloween candy can also be dangerous for dogs.
SOCCER MOM-GUN
LEBANON, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania soccer mom can pack heat again. A judge has ruled Meleanie Hain can have her concealed weapon permit back. A sheriff revoked the permit after parents complained Hain was carrying a loaded pistol in a holster at her daughter's soccer game. While the Lebanon County judge said the law required that he reinstate the carry permit, he questioned whether Hain showed good judgment. The pistol-packing mama says she and her gun will be back at the games.
CAT CRASH
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Cat fight! And cat crash, too! Colorado state troopers blame a car crash on a cat fight. The troopers report a woman rolled her car on I-70 after she tried to break up a fight between two cats, which had been riding in her lap. The Colorado State Patrol says the woman ended up a hospital, but didn't suffer life threatening injuries. Officers say the driver was also ticketed for careless driving.
NO YOGA
MASSENA, N.Y. (AP) - When is yoga not yoga? When it's "Raider Relaxation." Some parents objected when Massena High School in upstate New York planned to offer students a voluntary yoga program. Those who opposed it said the exercise class would promote Hinduism in a public school. So, the name of the program was changed to Raider Relaxation after the school's Red Raiders athletic teams. While the name is different, the now non-yoga program teaches the same yoga exercises.
SUPERSIZED-HEELS
UNDATED (AP) - High heels are getting even higher. The Wall Street Journal reports heels are supersized this fall. Designer shoes with 5-, 6- and even 7-inch heels are showing up in shops and department stores. But the super stilettos have risks, ranging from sprained ankles to back injuries. And YouTube is full of videos of runway models stumbling in the mega-heels. Some women even get cushioning injections in the balls of their feet to better wear the spiked heels.
