I can see so many loop holes in this it's crazy. I'm in Slocomb right now and I think this is crazy. I went to BMS last year, and no one followed the dress code, why would they now??? I might come back to dothan and I'm still buying my clothes at HotTopic! >:D But I can take this crap if it means I can go to the same school as my best friends!! BYE NYAPPY! o(≧∀≦)o
I've lived in Louisiana before and could be moving to the Dothan area.I think school uniforms is a joke.Let kids wear what that want to wear.If uniforms go on longer, students will be suspended for violation and It's not worth it.School uniforms look stupid and cost ALOT of money. My parents paid over $300 to special order uniforms.Thats ridiculous.STOP UNIFORMS.Schools are just imbarassing themselves.
I'm a student. Adults fight in blogs. hahahahaha
Stop the dress code now freedom of clothing.Fight the power!I say we march!Save the children.Plus we can't pay for un iforms if we have more than one child.
I feel that if the Dothan City School Board wants students to wear uniforms then hey should buy the uniforms for them! Lots of people have MORE THAN ONE CHILD TO PAY FOR!...uniforms are more costly and everybody isn't able...I just got laid off and cant afford to buy the certain colors and certain width, how tight, how loose, how high, name brand that they want for 5 kids UGH!!...this is very disappointing that they would actually stop the horrible teaching that they do to even twist their mouths to say anything about a uniform...with the drop-out rate like it is...it seems as if the TEACHERS and ADMINS. need to be doing something to BETTER THEIR SKILLS AND TEACHING!!!!!!!!!
Thats so dumb who would make that up anyways just dumb.if they aint gone buy them they shouldnt be sayin nothin about it. and the colors dont nobody aint gone wear THEM everyday.A LOT OF STUDENTS WILL GET SUSPENSION FOR NOT WEAR, THEY GONE WEAR WANT THEY WANT TO WEAR THANK YOU. DOTHAN CITY SCHOOLS NEED TO THINK MORE ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING THEY REALLY DO.
If the teachers & administration would follow the guideline set out for dress code violations that would solve alot of the dress problems but as cornelia said she just tells them to pull up their pants. The handbook says send to the office and the parent be called to correct the infraction, so why not do that. My child has been in uniforms before, it was more costly, and the schools still had problems enforcing the code. As for being proud of what you child is wearing, if you don't like it or approve of it DON'T BUY IT FOR THEM, you are after all the parent!
I like it! I hate that parents and students do not have any more pride/respect in themselves that they cannot dress appropriately and this has to be put into place, but I think it is wonderful!
I work in the public school and would find a dress code most beneficial to the students and the teachers. The fight to maintain the code we have is never ending, "pull up your pants, tuck in your shirt, get a belt, you can't wear that shirt, etc". Students would feel better about themselves if they were adhering to a dress code and as a result I believe we would see grades improve, hopefully see students care about learning, respect themselves and others. Also, a dress code would eliminate the competition and criticisms that occur when someone's shoes or shirt is not brand name. Please inact the dress code.
I can understand that something needs to be done about the way high schools dress. This code that you plan to put into effect is a little radical though. There is no need for this to be this strict if you wish to stop people from sagging wearing hoods ect. do something besides yell at them or send them to I.S.S it isn't working as you can see. Send them to P.A.S.S or something don't take away the right for students to wear what they like (within reason).
There is already a dress code including no saggy pants that is hard to enforce. Who is going to pay for a specific wardrobe for kids to wear to school? Half of the kids don't even buy school supplies and the churches/community donates them! If you can"t afford to buy enough dress code items (northface jackets!!!) will kids be sent home and parents hauled into court? This is crazy. Will they be required to salute and holler "Heil Hitler" next?
This is totally not worth it. They're taking away kids right to express themselves. Failure to comply with the dress code is NOT going to change with uniforms. The students that wouldn't follow dress code before aren't going to follow it now. It's only hurting the student who've done nothing wrong. School should be a comfortable learning environment provided you wear something PROPER. I know I wouldn't feel comfortable looking like everyone else day in and day out.
Do we have nothing better to send tax payers money on? What is this going to help? Who will enforce the new rule…This this just another administrative expense we need to pay? Let’s get real address the problem not find away to avoid the problem.
I'd like to put Jamie in a Dothan High classroom and watch her control it...be careful who you call incompetent.
This is the day that I have been long waiting for. The New Dress code for Dothan City Schools means that we, as parents, can be proud of the way our children are dressing every day. I also think that the colors are perfect. I have seen other schools with the Dress Code and I thought that the students look great. thanks to the committee for a great decision. Mary
