Nobody has a right to force you do something when you or your child have done nothing wrong. Studies have been done school uniforms don't make students do better in school. WE CANNOT BE COWARDS and let gangs dictate how we live our lives. Many American soldiers have died for this basic freedoms. WE CANNOT REWARD INCOMPETENCE from schools for not enforcing a school dress code. WE CANNOT REWARD LAZY PARENTS AND KIDS who think its easier for them in the morning if they wore a school uniform. WE CANNOT FORCE children to show school pride. WORRY ONLY ABOUT YOUR CHILD. If stupid parents cannot teach children respect and appropriateness let the school do it. They are there to teach. (Make a special class) If a tragedy occurred at a school how would you find your child(every looks the same). I think children in uniforms are more vulnerable to criminals. School is not a job because you can't quit like a job. Supreme Court ruled schools can only restrict clothing when it's disruptive

My children are entitled to a free education. Having the school board required me to have an additional expense of uniforms is not free. MANY parents feel the way I do as well as the ACLU. We need some one to get the legal ball rolling against this policy.

This a shame, they can't even control the school to begin with. This is just another ploy at taking money away from the public, next they will demand you purchase the high priced uniforms from approved suppliers, who will give the school board more hidden kick backs. Come on Dothan when will you realize you are a small city, not WASHINGTON, D.C. Both the school board and city government need to start listening to the public and stop doing whater they feel like. Look out Dothan, all this will do is reinforce the gang mentality and education will suffer.

School uniforms are for private schools where parents choose to absorb this additional expense. This policy was passed as if we have no dress code. The problem lies with administration who does not enforce the rules of the schools. I personally resent the fact that the school board expects my children to dress this way when part of growing up is discovering who you are, where your talents lie, who you want to be. It is your job to provide a quality education and enforcing policy, not to tell me what color, style and brand my child HAS to wear to school. The majority of the students in our school qualify for free/reduced lunches. How are these families to absorb the cost of additional wardrobes for their kids? This policy was passed without any input/survey of the general population of DCS parents. In this parent's opinion, I find this school system lacking in many ways. Making the students "look-alikes" will not fix your problems, it only makes me doubt YOUR leadership.

When can this be enforced in Dale County! The clothing the females are wearing to DA Smith are embarrassing and disruptive. The administration shouldn't have to spend time policing the attire of the students. Allowing a set standard dress code, kills two birds with one stone. Provides an environment where class warfare is irrelevant and it also allows teachers and students to concentrate on subject matter and not "iffy" style matters. Kudos to the Dothan district!
