American Idol Ruben Studdard made an appearance at the Dothan City Commission meeting Tuesday.
City officials honored him by proclaiming Tuesday as "Ruben Studdard Day." They also handed him a key to the city, telling him he's now considered an honorary citizen of Dothan.
Mayor Pat Thomas says he's proud of the work Ruben has done with our city this past week.
He brought his music camp here to kids, giving them a chance to sing and play instruments in an effort to support the arts.
Studdard is hosting a concert Tuesday night with the kids in the camp playing music and singing as his backup. It begins at 6:30 at the Dothan Civic Center and is free of charge.
However, the Ruben Studdard Foundation is accepting donations that will go toward scholarships. The scholarships will be given to Alabama students who are interested in studying music.
