Christmas will take on a "greener" look for municipal workers in one Wiregrass city. This week, the Enterprise Council gave its "okay" for a 7.5 percent increase for the majority of its employees.
Randy Harrison is a longtime Enterprise public works employee. With this week's action by the council, Harrison’s raise should begin late next month.
City officials say the cost of living adjustment, and merit increase was made possible through conservative planning. The city works on a five-year plan which takes projects and salaries into account.
Enterprise has also contracted with a consultant to do an overall study of its salary schedule, and how it compares to similar sized towns.
