Enterprise School Tax Referendum
Next Tuesday, December 9th, the City of Enterprise will hold an ad valorum property tax referendum, monies going to rebuilding schools destroyed in March, '07 tornado. Posted: 9:08 PM Dec 4, 2008 |

This week, the Enterprise Chamber Of Commerce Board of Directors approved a resolution urging citizens to approve a property tax proposal during a special referendum next Tuesday.
It’s been nearly two years since a tornado destroyed Enterprise High and Hillcrest Elementary. The rebuilding costs far exceed the funds made available by the federal, state, and local governments. The proposal will set aside a portion of the property tax previously dedicated to the city's health care authority.
Officials stress that it's not a new tax, but a redirecting of the existing 3.5 millage tax.
Besides providing a quality education, a good school system is an important recruitment tool to attract an industry looking to relocate.
