Craig "The main thing is I have a little boy and I have another on the way. You never know when it may be need the blood or maybe somebody in your family," said Craig Marsh.
This is only the second time marsh has donated blood. He, like many others in the Wiregrass, feels the same about the generosity of just one person.
The "On Air Blood Drive" is bringing veterans and first time donors into the blood bank. Like Miss Dothan, Sarah Catherine Purvis, who just turned the legal age to give blood.
"It doesn’t take that much time to give blood and it saves many lives so I think it’s important and I've just gotten to the age where I can donate so I came out," said Purvis.
While the traffic at the blood center may be flowing now, on a regular day only about three percent of residents in the entire state of Alabama donate.
That's something donor Johnny Walker says should not be happening.
"I think within my heart and mind they need, don't be afraid of doing it, you know because somebody needs it, right now, somebody needs it right now," says Walker.
The blood drive is continuing until 7 p.m tonight and you can register to win two separate gift certificates for $500 each, one to Ted’s Jewelers or one to Sam's Club. The drawing will take place at 7:05 p.m. that will certainly come in handy for Christmas.
Make sure to mention you're donating for WTVY when you go into the blood bank and help us kick Kickin' 93.7 FM.
