"Operation Santa Claus" Helps Local Children
Christmas is a time when good will and generosity bring communities together. For some local children, the spirit of generosity is making sure they have something to unwrap on Christmas day.

It is a sea of presents that would light up any children eyes, thanks to community members in Dale County.
"Our children are looking forward to the gifts they will receive at Christmas and we certainly wouldn't want them to be disappointed," said Ozark Mayor Billy Blackwell.
All of these part of the Operation Santa Claus. The program has been helping less fortunate families for more than thirty years.
This year, almost 900 kids are on the list to receive gifts with so many children one might wonder how all are able to unwrap a present on Christmas day.
Ozark Fire Department Chief, Dempsey Barefield, said, "We don't really understand how it works every year but we're able to furnish the toys for the children, we have on the list, nobody goes lacking."
Chief Barefield hopes Operation Santa Claus does more than just put a smile on children's faces.
"We think it teaches the children, it lets the children know that there's a way to give back to the community and as they grow older maybe they'll learn to give back to the less fortunate."
Officials say they have stopped accepting applications. However, they are still taking toys and monetary donations.
