Sarah Catherine Purvis is going to compete in Alabama's Junior Miss scholarship program in Montgomery.

Her peers threw a good luck party in Dothan.

Some of the things she will demonstrate include fitness, poise, scholastic achievement and a talent portion, in which she will play the piano.

She'll be competing for a $50,000 scholarship.

"I think I want to study Chemistry or Biomedical science and I hope to attend Auburn University” says Purvis.

She leaves on the 9th, the competition will be January 16th and 17th.
