Woman was at the center of the debate over the issue of equal pay for equal work

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Jacksonville woman who was at the
center of a national debate over equal pay issues will be a
passenger on President-elect Barack Obama's pre-inaugural train
tour.
Lilly Ledbetter spoke at the Democratic National Convention last
year and is the namesake of federal legislation regarding
employment rights.
Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden will take a whistle
stop tour along the east coast before the Jan. 20 inauguration.
Ledbetter is among 40 invited guests.
She sued Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Gadsden for pay
discrimination but the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed the suit
because it came after the 180-day time limit, which starts after
the first unfair paycheck.
Ledbetter contends she didn't learn of the problem until much later and most employees won't either.
