Local residents say this neighborhood in Donalsonville, Georgia used to be a safe place to call home. But recently, it has become a place that has put many residents on edge.
An anonymous resident says, "I have lived here all my life. I feel like that I can't, you know, feel like you just can't rest at night."
This resident requested to remain anonymous, for fear of any repercussions her comments might have on any ongoing drug deals. He says he's no stranger to drug deals going on in his neighborhood. But on Wednesday, Donalsonville Police stopped one suspected dealer in the area.
Investigator Greg Long of the Donalsonville Police Dept. says, "Set up surveillance for approximately one hour and witnessed the packages being delivered."
Long says the department has been working on the case for the past month and half.
A month and a half of work that landed them 20 to 25 pounds of marijuana, and Donalsonville resident Ashley Brown in jail, but the case goes much deeper.
Long says, "There are other suspects but they're not in the state of Georgia."
Authorities believe two more suspects involved in this drug case are in Arizona. They say the dealers have been the narcotics through the mail.
Long says, "It just goes undetected, there's millions and millions of packages and mail that goes through the system each day and some of it is detected and some of it's not."
While the entire case may not be solved yet, it gives residents a sense of ease knowing something is being done.
Brown us being held in the Seminole County Jail. He is being charged with trafficking marijuana, a felony offense.
