On the basketball court, Tim James is a star. But in one person's life, he's a hero.
Hannah Grace recently underwent surgery for a brain tumor and had a bone marrow transplant.
This three-year-old is now recovering from her cancer battle, thanks to this Ashford High School basketball star.
During, Tim is aggressive and dominant.
In life, he comes off laid-back and humble.
Tim organized a benefit basketball game in spring 2009 to help pay for Hannah’s hospital expenses.
He did this without ever meeting Hannah.
“I'm not sure she knew I wanted to do (the game). I think she found out after the fact," says Tim.
"I'm extremely proud that he's not a selfish child, and that he has the foresight to be able to create something that he enjoys doing while helping someone else. I think that's great," says Theretha James, Tim's mother.
In all, Tim helped raise $1,200 for Hannah’s treatments.
"It's amazing when you meet a teenager that can put themselves aside and do something that is strictly for other people. It's even more amazing he doing something for somebody he doesn't even know," says Marcie Harrison, Hannah's Mom.
"When something like this happens, it shows that people really do have a good heart and they can be such a blessing to others," says Denise Whitfield, Assistant Principal at Ashford High School.
This isn't the first benefit game for James.
He also held one to help the March 2007 tornado victims in Enterprise, Ala.
