We do not often thing of the local airport as an Entertaining place.
“I think a lot of times the airport is just taken for granted but we host so many corporate aircrafts that come into our airport daily. It is the front door to our community. It is a mainstream avenue of transportation to get those executives from point A to point B. It's a time machine,” says Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell.
But the city of Enterprise wants to change that by inviting residents to join them for a day out at the airport.
The primary purpose is to reveal to the citizens of enterprise and surrounding cities what our local airport does, says Boswell.
Not only does it help but also for those who support the airport on a daily basis.
The event will have live music and static displays along with plane and helicopter rides.
The aviation expo promises to be both entertaining and educational.
The expo will feature historic military equipment including a fly-by from Vietnam and World War II era war birds.
“We've got war birds from all over Alabama and even outside of Alabama coming in to this event,” says Rachel Davis, one of the events organizers.
Mayor Boswell says the historic plane displays are just some of the ways local veterans will be honored.
"What we're trying to do is take this and put it around those World War II veterans that actually went on the first honor flight to give them the opportunity to come out and possibly look at some of the planes they have used during their time when they were in the military," says Boswell.
The aviation expo will be on September 6th from 10 until 6 and it should be a fun event for everyone in the Wiregrass.
