A Covington County man has been arrested for the murder of his wife.
Sixty-nine-year-old Bobby Wayne Copeland is being held without bond in the Covington County jail on murder charges.
Sheriff's deputies and investigators responded to the home of 63-year-old Dorothy Cravey Copeland on North Creek Road in Florala after 5 am Friday morning.
A caller from the residence told dispatchers that "someone may be dead."
Deputies found Mrs. Copeland body with at least one gunshot wound to the head.
Sheriff's investigators worked for close to ten hours gathering evidence at the scene.
They determined that Mrs. Copeland had been murdered by her husband.
Mr. Copeland does not have a criminal history and there have been no previous reports of domestic violence at the residence.
Assisting in the investigation were the Covington County coroner's office, the Opp Police Department, the 22nd Judicial Circuit district attorney's office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
The Florala EMS and advanced EMS responded to the scene as well.
